Thank you for your interest in Gleeson College as a possible
secondary College in which your child can develop towards
adulthood.
Gleeson College aims to educate the whole person. Hence,
the spiritual, social, personal and academic development
of students are key priorities of an education at Gleeson
College.
Gleeson College is only a relatively young College, yet
it has achieved great things in its short existence and stands
proudly today with a tradition that belies its youthfulness.
It is fortunate to be held in high regard by the community,
especially the Catholic Community in the Golden Grove area
and surrounding suburbs.
Gleeson College is a particularly well-resourced school
and this has been made possible in large measure by the co-operative
venture that incorporates three schools on one campus, known
as the Golden Grove Senior Secondary Campus.
The College is co-educational and geographically close to
the community it serves. It is connected to this community
by a number of convenient bus routes. Our staff, who are
highly regarded for their dedication and pastoral care, are
grateful for the close rapport that exists between our feeder
schools and Gleeson, a liaison which is fostered even more
by a thorough transition process. Gleeson College’s
partnership with the local Catholic primary schools promotes
an R-12 Catholic pathway.
You are invited to consider the information in this package,
which hopefully answers most of your questions. Further information
can be obtained by contacting the College by email or telephone.
We would love to hear from you.
Our Campus has attracted worldwide interest as an innovation
that established educational facilities of the highest quality
as a central focus within a developing community and provided
the community with access to these facilities out of school
hours.
- Teachers benefit by having ready access to professional
support through the number of staff on campus.
- Students and staff benefit through the resources they
access.
- Students also are able to select from a wider range of
career paths due to the ability of the schools to share
subjects at the senior level and for students to access
cross-campus study.
What makes one school different to the others?
Within the campus framework, Gleeson College clearly maintains
its own unique identity. This is obvious in the first instance
through the maroon and white uniform, but takes on more significance
in terms of the vision and motto of Gleeson as a Catholic
College.
We aim to develop excellence within our students and encourage
them to use their talents and abilities in the service of
others. The motto, “With One heart”, inspires
a unity that works towards dignity, justice and peace in
the tradition of Archbishop James Gleeson, from whom we take
our name. Each of the three schools operates the same timetable
to enable cross-campus study and there is constant communication
concerning the joint use of the shared facilities. Beyond
this though, the separate schools have their own ethos, traditions,
rules and manner of operation. |
