Technologies

The Technologies learning area at Gleeson College is made up of three connected subject areas that include: Food and Textiles Technology, Digital Technologies, and Design and Technology.
Each subject area has a focus on using design thinking, investigating, evaluating and project management skills to work with a range of technologies and materials to produce designed solutions.  The vast nature of this learning area allows for students to create products that range from digitally coded games, to items of furniture, to beautifully presented meals.

At Year 7 students are lucky enough to experience all 3 of the Technologies subject areas and are exposed to the Food Technologies Kitchen, Textiles room and Design and Technology Workshops.  From Year 8, students continue their studies in 2 of these subject areas before moving into Year 9 where additional elective Technologies offerings are available for interested students.  The additional offerings include Digital Design, Fashion and Jewellery Design, and STEM (Technology and Engineering).

As students enter the Senior School at Year 10, their Technologies choices again allow for further specialisations.  The Technologies offerings all provide a pathway into Senior SACE subjects and additional offerings may provide students with the opportunity to explore VET opportunities through a range of external courses or the Doorways to Construction course hosted at Gleeson.

For a full list of subject offerings please view the Middle or Senior School Curriculum Handbook.
